Welcome to Carlton Academy

At The Carlton Academy Sixth Form our aim is to enable our students to fulfil their academic potential. Whilst we emphasise the importance of academic achievement, we also strive to support students in becoming independent, responsible members of their community. We provide extensive extracurricular opportunities and a dedicated programme focused on personal, social and emotional development. Our PSHE programme provides ongoing support for students in preparation for adulthood whether this be in employment, in seeking an apprenticeship or applying for University. High expectations combined with the dedicated support of specialist tutors, teachers and careers advisers ensure that students, whatever their individual needs, can develop self-confidence, fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations. If you would like any further information, help or advice about the Sixth Form or the study programmes we offer, please do not hesitate to contact us.Ms JenningsHead of Post 16

University

I will always be grateful to all my teachers, and particularly the history department for all their support which went above and beyond to tailor to my needs. This same personal support is offered to everyone, whether they’re looking to progress onto higher education or not which is what, in my opinion, make The Carlton Academy Sixth Form special.

University

The dedication of the Sixth Form staff in ensuring I was prepared, calm and assured during my application is something I will cherish. Without The Carlton Academy Sixth Form, and their vital support, I would never have thought I would be going to the same college I once toured as a hopeful Oxford student.

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
As a Sixth Form we are proud of the wide variety of enrichment activities that we offer to our students. From university visits, outside speakers, personal statement and CV writing workshops and our HE+ programme we aim to encourage students to start thinking about their steps Post 18 to ensure they have the best chances of success. Our Curriculum Plus offer ensures that a variety of interests are catered for from sports, music and debating societies alongside an active student committee who organise charity and social events for our student body.

HE+
Gain tailored support in applying to highly competitive universities and take part in workshops and seminars to give you a better understanding of the requirements from these institutions.
PSHE programme
Tutor time is dedicated to covering a range of topics relevant to our Sixth Form students from drugs and alcohol, managing exam stress to living independently and driving safety. We aim to ensure that our students leave us as well rounded young adults.
Personal Statement Guidance
All students take part in a personal statement writing workshop led by a local university. Our structured PSHE programme ensures that students are guided through the UCAS process with excellent support.
