Welcome to Canons High School

Canons Sixth Form is much more than just a collection of classrooms, a common room and study spaces. It is a community, with a culture and ethos that embodies and enables ‘Excellence for all’. We focus on bridging the gap between the curriculum and pastoral care to ensure students have the academic, critical thinking and interpersonal skills to be self-regulated both inside and outside of the classroom. Throughout their time in the Sixth Form, the KS5 pastoral team and coaches get to know students and offer high quality, ongoing academic intervention and personal development through our pastoral programme. The result of all this is that our students have every chance possible to leave us and go on to enjoy great success in higher education and employment. As we continue to see the impact of the pandemic, we continue to watch our students persevere and progress onto their desired post-18 destination. We are extremely proud of our students who are moving onto their first-choice universities at a range of prestigious universities and subjects. To support students in achieving their next steps, IAG – information, advice and guidance – play a critical role in our admissions process to the sixth form. It is essential that students are placed on the right courses that ensure their future success. We offer students a broad curriculum at different levels from A-levels, BTECs and T-levels. Most are delivered on-site but some are delivered in-conjunction with partnerships with Barnet Football Club. We challenge our students to be the best versions of themselves they can be as well as providing a range of pastoral support to help them overcome obstacles to learning. We ask all our students to contribute to the school, local or international community and as a result they are looked on as role models by younger students. Success as a student will be influenced by your contribution to, and participation in the working of this community as well as your motivation and the development of good professional working habits. Students take pride in participating in community, careers and challenge enrichment. We believe that innovation and technological solutions allows us to both reach further, longer and in more individual ways and to stretch our community almost endlessly beyond the physical space and timetabled hours to get to that excellence. We look forward to welcoming you to Canons Sixth Form and watching your journey to excellence.
