Extra-curricular

During the day and between four and eight PM on Monday to Friday our school staff put on a range of extracurricular activities for both day and boarding students. Some of these are designed to provide academic support to students who need a bit of help in organization of their work or getting their homework done, such as S3 Homework Club (a mixture of support and games aimed at improving literacy and numeracy) or GCSE and A Level support. Others are to stretch and support the Gifted and Talented students in the school or to allow students with a particular interest to explore things further. We also encourage and support students with a particular interest to start their own clubs and activities.
Drama

Drama thrives at Sexey’s. By taking part in the Key Stage and Whole School Productions, students grow in creativity and push the boundaries of their imagination. They are conversant with modern theatre practice, attending regular theatre trips to London, Bristol and Yeovil. We welcome touring theatre companies into school for tailored school productions that complement the curriculum.

Music

Music in Sexey’s School is all inclusive – both in style and ability. Our musicians play an active role in the school concerts, services, plays and musicals, and there are a range of clubs available to those who want to try something different. Music represents the school throughout the community by visiting residential homes and carolling at Christmas time.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

Sexey’s School is one of the largest providers of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme in the South West. Students from Year 10 onwards are given the opportunity to participate in the scheme at Bronze, Silver or Gold level.
