Welcome Message
Choosing to study at a Sixth Form can be a big decision for any Year 11 student, as it is the bridge from school to university and your future ambitions. As a Sixth Form student here at St Peter’s, we want you to feel confident in selecting and studying the subjects that you love, and at which you will thrive. What is also important to us is being part of a wonderful community, where many opportunities exist outside the classroom to allow all of our students to grow and become well-rounded young people.
Our academic standards have remained consistently high over a number of years, and we are very proud of our sustained success with our post 16 examination results. At St Peter’s, we pride ourselves on running an inclusive Sixth Form, whilst maintaining results which are amongst the best in the county. Our excellent results not only create opportunities for students to move on successfully to their choice of university (including Oxbridge and other Russell Group Universities), but they also lead to further training or directly into employment.
However, success is not defined as simply the grades that you receive at the end of Year 13. Students take part in a range of activities, from appearing in the latest school production, working in a courtroom (Bar Mock) to raising money for one of our charities. Such opportunities enable our students to flourish socially, personally and morally and fully prepares them for the next steps on their journey. Students are also supported through the School’s excellent pastoral care system and our tailored tutor pathway programme, where the tutor monitors their progress and oversees their personal development throughout their time in the Sixth Form.
Being a Catholic school allows us to focus on you, the student, as an individual. We don’t require you to be a practising Catholic to join our Sixth Form, but we ask that you respect each other’s beliefs and immerse yourself in our mission: to become the best we can be.
Our sixth form really is a special place to study. We would encourage you to come and visit us to experience it for yourself.
Simon Atkins, Head of Sixth Form
