University
“I worked in a little, hidden away back room in Miss Swierczynski’s classroom, often because I wanted time to myself, at one with the paints and scraps of material I found around the department, basically anything I could get my hands on to make a painting with.” Emily secured a place at the University of Huddersfield doing Contemporary Fine Art. Now, almost three years later, her dissertation has been handed in and she has just a few months left of study before she graduates. She enthuses; “I love University because of the opportunities it has given me to meet other artists and expand my practice as an abstract expressionism artist.” Emily now plans to undertake an MA in Art Curation.
Rebecca

Employed
After attaining her Level 3 in Business and Administration Rebecca has continued to work here at BGHS as the School Direct admin support as well as the LRC Administrator. Rebecca really enjoys her work here saying: “Everyday there is something different happening. I love the variety of my role and supporting the trainees who are working hard to become teachers. It really is rewarding to see them progress and achieve their goals.”
Jamila

Apprenticeship
Jamila attended the sixth form here studying A Levels in English Literature, Psychology and Sociology. She then went on to complete a Higher Level Teaching Course here also. “I thoroughly enjoyed working as a HLTA as teaching is one of my biggest passions. It was so rewarding to know that I was making a difference in so many students' learnings.” She is now in her first year of a Junior Management Consultancy course, which incorporates both study with a workplace apprenticeship here at BGHS, and has been demanding and busy to date, but rewarding too. Jamila says: “I am excited and happy in my new role and I am looking forward to experiencing new challenges and learning new skills.”
