“The progression from The Vale Academy to Brigg Sixth Form felt really natural.”
This allowed me to make notable progress in my chosen A-levels, namely History, Psychology, English Literature and German. Alongside academic support from staff, the tight-knit nature of the sixth form community granted me the opportunity to make more friends and share revision tips, etc. During the second year of my studies, I was honoured to positively shape the Brigg Sixth Form community through my position as Head Boy. I learnt vital skills in holding this position and would encourage anyone to run. Since graduating from Brigg Sixth Form in 2016, I have studied for a BA in Politics at the University of York. I have participated as a delegate and a ‘chair’ in numerous international Model United Nations (MUN) conferences. In summary, studying at Brigg Sixth Form is a challenging yet rewarding experience that has served me well thus far and shall continue to serve me well in the future.

University Course | Biomedical Science (Integrated Master’s) |
Between 2009 and 2016 I attended The Vale Academy, spending the last two years at Brigg Sixth Form. During my time at Brigg Sixth Form I studied Biology, Maths and Geography, all of which were interesting yet tough subjects. As I studied Biology at A-level I found a real interest in the subject, which brought me to where I am now, in my third year at the University of Warwick studying Biomedical Science. I recently transferred onto the combined master’s Biomedical Science course, meaning next year I will carry out my own laboratory research project within the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Warwick and graduate with a master’s degree. Once I have completed my masters, I aim to work in the Life Sciences industry for a while and then return to education to carry out a PhD in Biomedical Research.

Job Title | Primary School Teacher |
I always knew I wanted to work with children when I grew up. But I never thought I would manage to get the qualifications I needed. I attended The Vale Academy from 2007–2014 where I completed my GCSEs and my A-levels. At A-level I studied Psychology, English Literature, Art, and BTEC Sport. From here I gained a place at York St John University to study Primary Education (with QTS) for three years. I moved to York and studied hard for three years for my dream job. During my last placement, I applied for a teaching post back home at a local primary school and was offered the job to teach the year after for my NQT year! I am now in my second year of teaching and thoroughly enjoying it.
