Welcome Message
Thank you for your interest. St Bart’s Sixth Form is a vibrant, inclusive and forward-thinking community. Whatever a student’s aspirations may be, we are committed to engaging all students in sixth form life; to encouraging academic rigour, to providing leadership opportunities and to preparing students for their next steps in the wider world.
Inspiring students to aim high, we have an impressive track record in enabling students to secure places on some of the most competitive university courses and the most prestigious apprenticeships in the country.
All students are supported by a tutor, as part of one of the four Houses, led by our dedicated Sixth Form House Leaders. The system means we are able to offer excellent pastoral support as well as encourage all students to join in with our huge portfolio of clubs and House competitions.
We have a busy social calendar, which is driven by our School Officers. There really is something for everyone including sports fixtures, fundraising events, quizzes, open mics, karaoke, crafter-noons, barbecues and balls. It’s an exciting, engaging and fun environment.

FAQs
Our overriding aim is to ensure that students access courses which they will be able to complete successfully. General To access our wide range of Level 3 (A Level and BTEC National Extended Certificate) courses, we look for students to secure a minimum of five GCSEs at Grade 5 (or Merit at Level 2 BTEC). If a student meets these requirements but does not secure a Grade 4 in English Language and/or Mathematics, then s/he will be required to attend lessons and re-sit GCSE exams in these subjects in the Sixth Form. For subject specific entry requirements, please visit our subject pages.
Students are encouraged to make their initial selection as carefully as possible, referring to the subject pages on our website and speaking with students and staff at the Open Evening in order to establish whether a course is right for them. Students at St Bart’s in Year 11 are encouraged to not submit their applications until after the results of Year 11 Practice Examinations are reported. No subject changes will be processed after the submission of applications until we meet with students to discuss options in the Spring. Changes can be requested at that time and immediately after the Taster Days in June. Changes can again be requested after the publication of GCSE Results but we will not process these or confirm them until the first week of term. We try to accommodate all change requests, but we may not be able to do so in all circumstances.
Catchment areas do not apply in the Sixth Form and you can apply to us wherever you live. A very significant number of Year 12 students join us from other schools every year.
The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund is money provided by the government for schools to support disadvantaged students to overcome financial barriers to participation in education. If you have a household income below £25,000, for students in care, care leavers or those are in receipt of benefits in their own right, students may be able to receive the 16 to 19 Bursary. The Bursary can be used for financial help with Sixth Form expenses such as transport, meals, books, school trips, exam re-sits and equipment. Applications must be made on an annual basis and all students will be sent more information about eligibility for the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund and how to apply in September.
