Welcome to St John's School

I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to St John’s School, a proud member of Bedford Inclusive Learning and Training Trust (BILTT).I trust that our website provides a glimpse of the diverse offerings at St John’s. However, we invite you to visit us in person and meet some of our remarkable young people, allowing you to truly experience life at St John’s.At St John’s, we are dedicated to providing excellent education and support for children and young people aged 2 to 19 with severe and complex learning difficulties and health, and care needs. As a school, we strive to uphold our mission statement: ‘Working Together,’ which begins with fostering positive relationships with parents, carers, families, therapists, and professionals, as we believe collaboration is key to nurturing each child’s potential. We are passionate about tailoring our support and provision to meet the unique needs of every individual. At the heart of our educational approach is a broad and balanced curriculum designed to be both relevant and meaningful. We have structured our curriculum into four key pathways to ensure we cater for children’s individual abilities. All aspects of our curriculum are focused on promoting independence, effective communication, self-esteem, confidence, and positive relationships. Throughout our teaching, three golden threads run consistently: Communication, PSHE & Life Skills, and EHCPs/Journey to Adulthood.St John’s boasts facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, an Interactive Sound and Light room, dedicated ICT facilities, nature garden, soft play room, and a food technology room. These resources enable us to provide tailored support and guidance, ensuring every child receives the provision they deserve across all ages and pathways. We are a welcoming and inclusive community, united in our determination to achieve together and provide the very best education for our children and young people. As Acting Headteacher, I am immensely proud to lead this remarkable school and look forward to welcoming you soon. For further information or to arrange a visit, please contact our School Office at 01234 345565 or email us at sjs@biltt.org.Shannon PoulterHeadteacher
