Extra-curricular

At Prince Henry’s, we recognise that young people need to develop their independence, confidence and adaptability in order to thrive in our rapidly changing society. To this end, we offer our sixth form students an extremely wide range of opportunities to foster these skills. Some students choose to get involved with the Senior Student Leadership Team and Student Council, while others join our Debating Group, Duke of Edinburgh programme or one of the many student led initiatives such as the Equality and Diversity Group or Eco-mmitee. Our bespoke sixth form Enrichment Curriculum gives students the chance to develop the key skills needed for university and wider life through a varied programme of courses and activities. The most popular single course is the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) – an AS-level equivalent qualification highly valued by the top universities but also very useful for developing skills valuable to employers. Another popular option is volunteering within the school or the local community. With one of the widest ranges of enrichment activities available locally, Prince Henry’s students can gain an academic edge and access a fully rounded education, as well as contributing to their community and the wider world. In addition to the standard enrichment and extra-curricular options, the Excellence in Sport and Education Programme (ESEP) allows talented athletes the flexibility to integrate specialist training in their chosen sport alongside their A-levels, with a mentor and personalised timetable to support their endeavours. Our Talented Musician Scheme aims to support exceptional musicians in a similar way.
