Welcome to Alfriston School

It is my absolute privilege to welcome you to our school, where it has been my pleasure to serve as Headteacher since September 2024.Alfriston is a secondary special school academy for girls aged 11-18. All of our students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), with their primary need being moderate learning difficulties. Many of our students require support with communication and interaction. While we are passionate about inclusion, it is important to note that Alfriston School is not suitable for children and young people whose primary need is social, emotional, and mental health, or those who present an ongoing risk to others. At Alfriston, we believe in “learning for living”—a philosophy that guides every aspect of our work. Our curriculum is carefully crafted to ensure that each student develops the essential life skills they need to thrive in the world with confidence and autonomy. We place great importance on values-based practice, fostering an environment of respect, empathy, and inclusion. Every student is valued as an individual, and we are committed to ensuring that they feel a sense of belonging, are encouraged to take risks, and are supported in all aspects of their personal development.Thank you for exploring our website and for joining us on this inspiring journey. Together, we can shape a future full of opportunity, growth, and meaningful achievements for our students as they navigate their path into adulthood.
