Welcome to The John of Gaunt School

Welcome To The John of Gaunt Sixth FormOur Sixth Form is a lively place to be. Our teachers are passionate about their subjects and this is conveyed through dynamic lessons and academic achievement. Our students receive an exciting and challenging learning experience. As a direct result, our Post-16 results are very good.We are a thriving comprehensive Sixth Form where all of our students are encouraged to flourish and meet their goals, whether this be university or employment. Most years, around 80% of our students leave us to continue their education at a higher level with the vast majority getting into their first choice universities. We have a dedicated team of staff who are here to support students and parents with future plans. We support students throughout their time in the Sixth Form with our excellent pastoral system and our personalised extended curriculum, ensuring students become increasingly independent and confident throughout the two years. To find out more about us, please browse through the courses we offer and visit the Applying for Sixth Form page to see our entry requirements and application form. Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
All Year 12 students are involved in the school’s Employable Skills Programme where one hour per week is dedicated to helping or mentoring others. This includes lesson support in school, peer mentoring, helping in primary schools and care homes and leading sporting activities, for example. Students choose an activity that relates to their future career plans or an interest or hobby they have. They tailor their programme. Through the programme students develop skills such as team working, reliability, resilience and independence, all of which enrich them in preparation for life after school.
