Extra-curricular

The Trust offers Post 16 students many opportunities to demonstrate leadership through various pathways such as the student leadership Team, Prefect roles, volunteering in the local community and as Peer Mentors for younger students. The Trust is also excited to offer the ‘Earn as you Learn’ programme, whereby Post 16 students can apply for a working role at its feeder primary schools. In addition to this, The Trust offers an extensive extracurricular programme that seeks to enrich the lives of students.
Student Leadership Team

You will have the opportunity to be members of the Post 16 Ambassador Programme. In the first instance, this involves running an election campaign in order to garner support for your cause and convince your peers that you are the best candidate to represent the cohort. There are several positions available that focus on a particular area, including Trips and Events, WellBeing, Further Education. All Post 16 students have the opportunity to apply for an Ambassador position. These roles are highly desirable and competition is fierce. Once elected, the Ambassador Committee are the voice of the Post 16 students and senior student representatives for The Trust. As it is the nature of the role, Ambassadors will be given additional responsibilities to fulfil, such as promoting support at college events and assisting teachers with supporting Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students. They also take responsibility for leading the Student Voice Council at each of the four secondary colleges and organise social events for Post 16.

Clubs

Post 16 students have the opportunity to create and manage their own club. This is processed initially, by one or more students, through the submission of a written proposal, which must detail the rationale behind the creation of the club and how and when it will run. The proposal should also explain how it will enhance the Post 16 experience. Examples of such clubs have been the Football Club, the Movie Club whereby students watched various films throughout the year and reviewed the cinematic directing, acting and script writing, and the Newspaper Club, who reported on the achievements of students, writing columns explaining local issues and even producing a bimonthly comic strip. Being a part of such organisations demonstrates to employers and Admissions Officers at institutions of Higher Education that a student has valuable skills outside the realm of academia that would make them an asset to any company or university.

National Citizen Service (NCS)

You will have the opportunity to take part in the National Citizen Service (NCS). The NCS is a 2 to 4 week programme, which takes place outside of term time in the spring, summer and autumn holidays and is proven to have a massive impact on young people’s lives. Through NCS activities, you can develop life skills such as confidence, leadership and communication to boost your CV or UCAS personal statements, as well as take part in outdoor activities such as rock climbing and archery.
