Cheney School

We place great emphasis on educating the whole person. All students are encouraged to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities and we are ambitious for all students to do so. We are proud of our broad and stimulating extra-curricular programme spanning sports, creative arts, languages, creative writing and film, with clubs often set up in direct response to student and staff interest. We encourage students with a personal interest to start a club and engage their peers with their specific interests, across the school community. More formalised are our extra-curricular Classics, debating, Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) and Cadets activities. We are also very fortunate to house the UK’s first certified museum in a school, the Rumble Museum, which puts on breakfast talks and all-day themed events throughout the year, as well as enabling students and staff to benefit from artefact-based teaching and learning. The Rumble Museum is the result of a unique partnership with The Iris Project educational charity, works within the Arts Council Museum Accreditation Scheme and contains over 200 artefacts. From DofE to Debating, Basketball to Baking and Korean to Cadet Force, our extra curricular clubs and activities are a different way to learn and develop key skills, meet new people and thrive, often in a less formal and more relaxed atmosphere.
