We are delighted to welcome you to The Green School Sixth Form. Our vision is to inspire our students to aim high, to develop confidence, independence and resourcefulness so that they grow into young adults who are responsible and effective members of the wider community, well-equipped to thrive in the ever-changing world in which we live. Building on our inclusive Christian ethos we are proud to provide opportunities at Sixth Form for students to expand both hearts and minds, through their academic education as well as through enrichment courses and our co-curricular provision; we value every student and support them to flourish both academically and in their personal development. When our students leave us they are well prepared for their chosen pathway of university, apprenticeship or the world of work.

Enrichment Activities

Show all activities
Through our unique Broadening Horizons programmes, students get to pick from a range of Enrichment courses, aimed at building confidence through experience, enhancing existing skillsets, and for some courses, gaining a qualification. Full details of our enrichment courses can be found here: https://www.tgs6f.com/Broadening-Horizons/

Sports Leadership Award

This qualification develops generic leadership skills that will be vital in other areas of life. It allows those who are not sports superstars to take a full and active role in sport and physical activity. It will help increase self-confidence that comes through taking responsibility for own and others’ learning and enjoyment. The course is fun and practical. It focuses on leading rather than technical ability. The award is a potential stepping stone into employment, further education or training, as well as a good foundation to progress onto other UK awards or qualifications.

LAMDA Speech and Drama

LAMDA exams are about achievement – recognising and rewarding the endeavours of each individual – but they are also about empowerment. The Certificate in Speech and Drama is a great way to progress from a simple graded exam to a more complex, multi-unit qualification. The aim is to provide you with the opportunity to develop the life skills you need to be a success: attributes such as self-confidence and the ability to communicate clearly and present ideas.

Debating and Public Speaking

If you enjoy academic discussion, working in a team and expressing your opinion, then this is for you. By taking part in this enrichment, you will have the chance to represent the school in the Oxford Schools' Debating League as well as developing key skills in public speaking and communication that will stand you in great stead for uni, the workplace and the wider world.

Free and Equal Ambassadors

If you like working with others, sharing positive ideas and, above all, making a difference - you should definitely select this option. Free and Equal Ambassadors will work across the Trust to raise awareness and effect positive change in the school community. With full training and support from Beyond This, the ambassadors will work together to address discrimination and injustice and encourage social responsibility from all students. If you are interested in justice, equity, equality and being a positive role model - this is for you!

Music Jam

Do you play an instrument? Or are you a confident singer who enjoys to perform? Music Jam gives you the opportunity to meet with like-minded people and enjoy jamming, playing and improvising - perhaps even composing music. You will have the chance to perform at school concerts and Arts events.

Extended Project Qualification

The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a level 3 course that can be studied alongside A-levels or BTECs - although you will need to meet the EPQ specific entry requirements. The aim of the course is to independently produce a project on an aspect of your learning that you are passionate about, and wish to research further. The project may take the form of an extended piece of writing, artefact, performance, recording or a model prototype. The UCAS points you gain are equal to gaining half an A-level.

Building Business

Take part in a course designed to teach you all you need to know about becoming an entrepreneur - from having that first 'lightbulb moment' of a business idea to making it happen as a reality. Learn about planning, pitching, financial strategy and marketing and put your skills to the test by working with other students and local businesses to bring your idea to life. This course is ideal for developing a range of skills valued by universities and employers alike.
