Extra-curricular

At Alsager Sixth Form we fully promote a positive approach to taking the opportunities that are available for students to engage in. These activities also support the development of personal attributes and characteristics. As well as simply being enjoyable these can also provide the evidence that future employers and universities are looking for in a potential applicant.
Volunteering

As part of our ongoing work with the community Alsager Sixth Form is actively seeking opportunities for students to volunteer in the local community. An example of this is our partnership with the charity ‘Friends for Leisure’ – an organisation that helps disabled children and young people in Cheshire East enjoy friendship and leisure time.

Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award

A life-changing experience. An opportunity to have fun with friends. A chance to discover new interests and talents. A tool to develop essential skills for life and work. A recognised mark of achievement, respected by employers.

Mentoring/tutoring

As part of the sixth form tutor programme students are offered the opportunity to support students from Alsager School, either in the role of a subject tutor – aiding their understanding of a subject, or as a mentor – providing guidance as an older role model for younger students. All students receive full training for these roles to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to ensure mentoring/tutoring partnerships are successful and maintain appropriate boundaries.
