Welcome to Adelaide School
A very warm welcome to Adelaide, we are a therapeutic special school which provide education for pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. We currently have 95 pupils on roll aged between 9 and 18. Our aim is to enable pupils to have a positive experience of education and equip them for their future. Our values are: commitment, collaboration and care.We work hard to ensure that all pupils with whom we work feel valued and respected. They all have very different needs and we work hard to ensure that we provide the support they need to learn and prepare to be active British citizens who contribute to society. Many of our parents describe Adelaide as a ‘family’ as the school has a strong sense of community. We hope that you find any information that you are looking for on our website but if you would like to know anything else please just get in touch.Sarah BarlowBA (Hons) MA NPQHHead of School

‘Hesitant, I was scared at the concept of a
confined school with less people, but the
teachers moulded it around my specific
needs and helped me develop, I loved
the relationship you could have with each
teacher individually, it helped my social
skills a lot. They realised my love for
cooking and focused my experience at
Adelaide on that passion, offering more
time in their kitchen and supporting me
through. Mix all them together and I
learned how to be a functioning member
of society and now have my dream job.

‘I am no going to lie I hated school
at first and everyone in it but then I
started to understand that I was
only going to go to school once.
I realised that there were lots of
opportunities at Adelaide and it is
not a standard, boring school.
When I was in upper school I really
enjoyed school and now wish I
could come back.’

‘My memories of my time in school were better than
anyone else’s. Other schools wouldn't have offered me
the experience of a brilliant teaching staff that actually
want to be there for their students. I never knew what I
wanted to be but the teaching staff helped me develop
my personal interests including politics, entertainment
and management.
I’m so lucky to have experienced Adelaide as I have
achieved my goals including: being elected to the UK
Youth Parliament, campaigning the Prime Minister, creat-
ing a business plan for youth services in Cheshire, becom-
ing a Haven Funstar & managing Hungry Horse pubs. I
have realised I would rather have a HAPPY life than an
IMPORTANT one. If I hadn't attended Adelaide and got
the support I needed I would not have got this far in life.’
