Welcome to The Charter School East Dulwich
I feel immensely privileged to be the Head of Sixth Form at the Charter School East Dulwich. We believe that all our young people have the potential to achieve in school and succeed in life, and we ensure that students flourish here regardless of their starting points or circumstances. Our Sixth Form inspires young people, and our hugely experienced teachers deliver the very best in teaching and learning. However, our students also inspire us - whether that be in musical performances, volunteering as mentors for younger students, on the sports field, our students demonstrate passion, dedication and excellence that goes beyond their academic subjects and the classroom. As a Sixth Form student at Charter School East Dulwich you will have the opportunities to: deepen your understanding of your chosen subjects inspired by our excellent teachers get involved in a wide range of co-curricular and extra curricular activities; from clubs and societies to volunteering and work placements to make new friends in our fantastic buildings in the heart of East Dulwich. Charter students are encouraged to love academic life, to think for themselves, to question the world around them and to debate and argue with confidence. We want our students to flourish and to develop resilience and confidence in themselves. We aim to do all that we can to prepare them for meaningful, happy and satisfying lives, both at school and beyond. I look forward to welcoming you to our Sixth Form. Emily Watson Assistant Headteacher, Sixth Form

Once timetables are given to students there is limited availability during the first two weeks of term to change courses.
On Enrolment Day, students will have the chance to discuss their results and your course choices with a member of the Sixth Form team. If they feel their grades indicate that they wouldn't be able to cope with their preferred courses, they will try to offer them alternatives that will enable them to progress successfully, subject to availability within the class.
All External applications who select Charter School East Dulwich as their first choice and alll Internal students will have a discussion meeting to discuss their course options and suitability will take place in HT4 in the Spring Term. Information will be sent out in January about this.

Sixth form students receive a timetable which includes subject lessons, tutor time and supervised study periods. They also have independent study periods. Students can leave the site during those independent periods, although we advise most students to stay on site to complete their work. Students must use their ID card to access and exit the school site. Some students may wish to go off site at lunchtime.
Sixth Form students are allowed to use their phones within the Sixth Form facilities. They must not be visible at all on the rest of the school site, in order to comply with the whole school policy.
Students can wear their own clothing for Sixth Form which is appropriate for school. We have four elements to our dress code: 1. Tops and bottoms must meet in the middle, with no visible midriffs. 2. no visible underwear. 3. hats or hoods up inside the school building are not allowed. 4. Students must wear their Sixth Form lanyards with an ID card at all times.
There is a Sixth Form Cafe and a large Sixth Form Study Space. Once Phase 2 of the building is complete next year, the Sixth Form Study Space will be in the new block and will include a Sixth Form section in the School Library.
