Welcome to North Leamington School

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to North Leamington School Sixth Form. The CORE values that run through the NLS community are intrinsic in the Sixth Form, developing students in a holistic way, academically and socially. This helps them to develop into world ready individuals, who are both intellectually and emotionally intelligent with a plethora of skills to use in our ever-changing world.

Our university style campus enables students to enjoy an adult learning environment, whilst benefiting from our world-class facilities and the privilege of role-modelling for the school’s younger students. The outstanding results North Leamington Sixth Form students achieve on a yearly basis are in the top percentiles for progress each year, which contribute to our very successful reputation. Alongside the highest quality education in a wide range of subject options at both A Level & BTEC, we develop important skills with our leadership programme, work experience, careers support, and enrichment programme. Our Sixth Form Student Committee run by the Senior Student Leaders alongside their deputies, make key contributions to the running of the Sixth Form and playing a wider role in the whole school community.

Our strong team of Tutors work with students, offering them help and guidance. As a student, you will be encouraged to work independently with due diligence, developing important skills for future careers. The majority of students at North Leamington go on to take up places at their first choice university, following individual support through the UCAS process. These include Oxbridge and Russell group universities, but students are actively encouraged to explore and make choices based on what is best for them as individuals. Our excellent Careers team work in conjunction with the Sixth Form team, to educate and provide guidance and support with Apprenticeship applications and other employment routes post Sixth Form – we pride ourselves on personalising support to meet the needs of individual students.

Whether you are continuing your journey with us from Year 11 or are looking to join us from another school, we will ensure you feel welcomed, comfortable and part of the community. Our comprehensive induction programme, ensures that you will feel supported in this big step into post-16 life, developing skills, facilitating friendships and being there if you need us.

It is important that students enjoy their final two years at NLS, as life skills are developed in and outside of the classroom and friendships are forged which often stand the test of time. Our focus on wellbeing encourages students to grow as individuals, building self-esteem, confidence, integrity and the compassion to give back to the community in which they live.

As your Head of Sixth Form, my door is always open. My aim is to ensure students are happy, fulfilled and respected as members of the NLS community. I look forward to meeting you, either as a current NLS student or parent, or a prospective Sixth Form applicant.

We believe that education provision should be holistic: that academic learning needs to be placed in a context of providing opportunities for the wider development of the individual. Students in our Sixth Form should feel safe, happy, confident and, by extension, successful. We firmly believe that we achieve this at North Leamington School Sixth Form.
