Welcome to Oak Lodge School
A Warm Welcome from the Head Teacher
Oak Lodge School is a very special place to work and learn. All of our young people have an Education, Health and Care Plan. Through this, they receive individual and personalised learning, from our highly-skilled specialist staff team, teachers, speech and language therapists and occupational therapist. We are committed to providing a high quality education for every child.
The school is rated Good (2025) by Ofsted and our residential provision, Phoenix House is also rated Good (2024).
Our shared aim is to nurture your child, in a safe and purposeful environment. To enable them to develop the tools and language they will need for a successful future. We foster an appreciation of people’s uniqueness so that everyone is respected and valued.
We encourage and value strong partnerships with our parents and the wider community. We are a very happy and friendly school in which a sense of fun and achievement shines through.
I really do hope you enjoy looking through our website—it is just a flavour of our offer. The best way to find out is to visit us and see for yourself what a remarkable and unique environment we have at Oak Lodge School.

Enrichment Activities
Show all activitiesA DofE award recognises qualities such as reliability, commitment, decision-making, planning, communication, leadership, resilience and the ability to work as part of a team. These outcomes are valued by employers and educational establishments. This course will involve four main sections including volunteering, physical, skills and expedition. For the volunteering, physical and skills section, this can be achieved during timetabled enterprise/during school classes where appropriate. Students can also achieve these outside of school if they attend sport clubs or volunteer work. Students will enjoy new experiences and take part in new and exciting challenges and to make a difference to other people’s lives and their community through the volunteering section. They will also learn about being healthier by taking part in a physical activity for a set period of time.
Alongside our classroom curriculum, we offer enrichment opportunities and out of hours learning. We arrange trips to cement learning that help students learn important life skills, develop cultural capital and ground learned concepts in a real-life context
Physical development is so important to all Oak Lodge students, and our sports facilities enable us to provide ample opportunity for exercise and sporting achievement
