Welcome Message
Welcome to Aspire Sixth.
Our sixth form offers students from Cheslyn Hay, Great Wyrley and the surrounding area the chance to benefit from the excellent teaching upon which the school prides itself in a vibrant environment that encourages academic achievement and social development.
Every September, we are delighted to welcome Year 11 students from both home schools and students from other schools into Aspire Sixth. We provide a supportive and challenging environment in which students can flourish. We are a thriving, friendly and supportive community. Our facilities are first class, backed up by excellent teachers and subject specialists who are totally committed to ensuring that they get the best from their students.
We begin each year with an intensive induction, and our focus is on maximum academic achievement, combined with a wide range of extra-curricular, leadership and social activities. A key feature of our sixth form is the extension of our collaboration between student, parent and school, which we know is the foundation for success. Our assessment and reporting schedule is designed to keep parents fully informed and in touch with all aspects of student progress.
The majority of our students move on to study at university. Their chosen degree courses are wide ranging, including medicine, law, science, and the performing arts. Students are also supported to secure positions in employment or apprenticeships.
Life at Aspire Sixth is not solely about academic success; it is also about developing as a person. Extra-curricular activities and leadership roles, alongside a comprehensive tutorial and enrichment programme including work experience, sports leadership, mentoring programs, TEFL course and the extended project qualification, enable our students to become well-rounded and confident individuals.
I hope our website will give you a flavour of life at our sixth form, and I very much look forward to meeting you and sharing the fantastic range of opportunities available to our students.

Apprenticeship
Attended Cheslyn Hay Academy and Aspire Sixth Form: Cheslyn Hay Academy 2013-2018 Sixth Form 2018-2020 What has been your career pathway - how did you get to where you are now? I did some writing beforehand, but when COVID hit I amped up my football content creation, just doing small podcasts and the like. That slowed down at university, where I studied History and Politics, two of the three A-Levels I did at Cheslyn Hay with the third being English Lit. In summer 2022 I threw a speculative application to work with BBC Sport as a Runner on the Commonwealth Games, which was successful! I've kept up my freelancing career since then, and am in the process of launching a creative studio and collective named CRG Studio with a number of creatives (maybe we'll be live once this is posted so check us out!). I keep up these side projects on top of my day job in London, which is currently waiting tables while just starting up some more ambitious applications. I'm extremely excited to launch this start-up, potentially find a new job closer aligned to my skills, and keep enjoying making football content in the background. What advice would you give to current Aspire Sixth students now based on your experience? Enjoy it! Make the most of the age you're at. You've got less subjects now, so push yourself harder to think outside of the box. The way the world is going, independent thought and personal style, passion, and creativity are all becoming far more important. I believe follow what you enjoy doing, and enjoy throwing yourself hard into it. Don't put limits on what you can do, just set a goal and get your head down. It'll come. What are your future plans? I'm not a career-driven person, I like to continually push and challenge myself. I feel that if you follow what you enjoy doing, that'll take you down the right path eventually. I like being creative, and I like helping people - I love the world of media in its many forms and see myself going down that route. What is your best memory of your time at Cheslyn Hay/Aspire Sixth? Any time I managed to take a teacher off track during a lesson to spend a few minutes talking about football or something (I won't name names!)

I completed my interview and got the job! What did you study at Aspire Sixth Form? A qualification that accredits UCAS points. The EPQ is an opportunity for students who wish to develop their knowledge within a particular topic area. Students research a chosen topic and produce a written report on their findings. This option is favoured by red brick universities.
Students are given the opportunity to work within a chosen department in school to develop skills in academically supporting students in Key Stages 3 and 4. Many students who wish to go into a teaching profession find the skills and experience invaluable.
