Apprenticeship
At Beauchamp City Sixth Form (BCSF), we are incredibly proud of our alumni, and Muhammad's story is a testament to the lasting impact of our educational environment. His journey from student to nuclear degree apprentice at Rolls-Royce SMR is a great example of dedication, passion, and achievement. The supportive environment and encouragement from his teachers played a crucial role in nurturing his interests and guiding him towards his future career. Muhammad enjoyed all his subjects at BCSF, with a particular passion for Psychology and Maths. These subjects sparked his curiosity and problem-solving skills, which are essential in his current role. "I do feel my current job reflects that," he notes, highlighting the strong foundation BCSF provided. After finishing from BCSF, Muhammad received an offer to study Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Science in University, however he decided to go down the route of a degree apprenticeship. Currently, Muhammad is a nuclear degree apprentice at Rolls-Royce SMR, part of the first intake of apprentices at the company. He describes his experience as "really interesting and definitely an eye-opening experience." Much like his time at BCSF, Muhammad is pioneering new paths and embracing unique opportunities. Kayan’s passion for medicine took shape during his time at Beauchamp City Sixth Form, where he found inspiration in the exceptional teaching and supportive atmosphere. His favorite subject during sixth form was Biology. The high-quality and engaging teaching he received made him love the subject even more and sparked his curiosity regarding the human body. This played a massive role in shaping his decision to study medicine. Beauchamp City Sixth Form provided Kayan with a supportive and inspiring learning environment. The ethos and environment of the school contributed significantly to his success. His tutor and subject teachers supported him throughout the university application process, including conducting a mock interview, which Kayan found incredibly useful. The academic support in place helped him secure his place at University College London Medical School (UCLMS), where he is currently in his second year studying Medicine. Kayan’s outstanding academic performance, achieving 3 A*’s at Beauchamp City, helped him receive offers from all four medical schools he applied to. Looking back on his journey, Kayan advises current students to aim high when choosing universities and apply for aspirational choices, even if they are not 100% sure they will get in. "Applying to UCL was one of the best decisions I've made as it has resulted in me studying medicine at the 6th best university in the world for the subject," Kayan shares. He encourages students to take the leap and apply for their dream universities. Kayan's journey from Beauchamp City Sixth Form to medical school at UCL showcases the importance of a supportive and comprehensive educational environment. His story is a testament to the exceptional teaching and guidance provided by our dedicated staff.
Mira Lakhani

University
After completing her GCSEs at Lionheart's Sir Jonathan North Girls’ College (SJNGC), Mira moved on to Beauchamp City Sixth Form to study her A-Levels—continuing her path within the Lionheart Educational Trust. Her time across both schools helped shape her academic interests, build her confidence, and ultimately led her to study Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. Mira discovered her love for Maths and Science during her time at Sir Jonathan North. Her teachers didn’t just teach—they encouraged her to ask questions, explore ideas, and believe in herself. Support from her GCSE Maths teacher gave her the confidence to take Further Maths at A-Level and apply for a science degree. More than anything, Sir Jonathan North - a place where girls are empowered to thrive - inspired Mira to be a woman in STEM. “All of my teachers at SJNGC helped build my confidence in their subjects,” Mira says. “That had a lasting impact on my whole experience at secondary school.” The move to Beauchamp City Sixth Form (BCSF) was seamless; understanding the Lionheart systems and ways of working, as well as being confident in the teaching excellence she'd become accustomed to. Mira quickly settled into her new post-16 environment, where she gained more independence and developed strong study habits. Surrounded by passionate teachers and a supportive community, she continued to thrive both academically and personally. One teacher’s encouragement to apply to Cambridge was a turning point—one that helped her see what she was capable of. “I was treated like an adult and given the independence I needed,” she reflects. “But always with the right level of support. BCSF was where I really came into my own as a person and a student.” During her time at Sixth Form, Mira built strong friendships that have lasted, and learned key skills for working as part of a team. Looking back, Mira says the shared values across both schools made the transition smooth and reassuring. Her time within the Trust didn’t just prepare her academically—it gave her the confidence to take risks, aim high, and pursue her goals—and ultimately, to thrive at one of the world’s leading universities.
