“There are several paths you can take to reach your end goal. Even if the first one doesn't work out, continue to persevere!”

I enjoyed studying chemistry during my GCSEs, and found that it was interdisciplinary. There are a wide range of job opportunities, from medicine to coding, which was helpful for someone like me who had not mapped out their entire career path by the age of sixteen. I am now a Development Chemist at Keracol Limited, a spin-off company from the University of Leeds.

“Brooksbank offers plenty of extra- curricular opportunities. You can take advantage of one-to-one tutoring, join the School Council, or become an ambassador and take part in school events.”

I took a real interest in Geography during GCSE years which led me to choose this to study at A Level, alongside Sociology. I found the Social Science aspect of Geography and the way it links to many topics such as tourism, sustainability, retail and politics fascinating. I took advantage of the many extracurricular opportunities offered at Brooksbank. They helped me to develop my communication skills and enhanced my progression to university. I am currently working as a Design Co-ordinator at Waxman Energy, who are based in Elland.

Job Title

English and Drama Teacher

“Take every extra-curricular opportunity outside the classroom to further yourself. I signed up to a school show during my first week at Brooksbank and the acting and directing opportunities that I have explored since then have helped make me the person I am today.”

I always wanted to be a writer and my time at Brooksbank inspired me to pursue this. My supportive teachers, encouraged me to explore my ideas and express myself through writing, and played a significant role in shaping my passion for the craft. I am an English and Drama teacher, currently teaching in Salford.
