Pencoedtre High School

Barry 6th Form is a co-educational post-16 Level 3 provider, run jointly across Pencoedtre High School and Whitmore High School. We are small enough to get to know each student and their needs well – yet large enough to offer a diverse range of subjects and study programmes. 

Life as a Sixth Form student can be both challenging and rewarding. Barry 6th Form has, as its core purpose, a commitment to support student academic progress and personal development. Your continued growth with us at Barry 6th empowers you to be attain your full potential, allowing you to take your next steps with confidence.

Learning is led by inspiring teachers with lessons in over 35 courses to choose from. All our courses are Level 3 A-Level or Equivalent; designed to provide an academically stimulating curriculum. Students learn in a mature, rigorous and challenging environment, emerging with the skills and attributes needed to succeed in the wider world of work or further education.

We are proud of our excellent results and the myriad paths to success that our alumni have taken afterwards. As well as academia, we encourage post-16 students to develop into confident individuals and responsible citizens. All students are encouraged to contribute to the wider life of the Sixth Form, becoming involved in enrichment activities, charity events and fundraising initiatives. High standards from our Sixth Formers filter down to the younger pupils, reflecting their status as school leaders. 

Students who are successful with their application for Barry 6th Form are expected to have high aspirations. In turn, we support with our academic and pastoral teams. All students are enrolled into our bespoke service to advise, guide and shape with Post-18 options. The Sixth Form team have proven experience with supporting successful applications for universities, apprenticeships or the workplace.
