Welcome to Ysgol Bro Pedr

Our intention at Bro Pedr is to make your years in the Sixth Form a busy, exciting and profitable experience. This is the crossroads which will direct you to Higher Education courses or to training schemes which may set the agenda for the rest of your life!We are determined to give you the best possible start as students in our Sixth Form. The competition for good jobs, for places on quality training schemes and for courses in our bestuniversities is fierce. You must be able to compete against the best students from other schools and colleges – whatever your choice after leaving the Sixth Form.Every student who returns to the Sixth Form will be different, and your requirements and what you expect to gain from the Sixth Form will also be different. Your choice of courses will vary:some of you will be fairly certain of the route you wish to follow and will select a combination of subjects which will lead to specific vocational areas such as Medicine, Engineering, Nursing or Physiotherapy etc. Others will choose courses which interest them, without necessarily considering the next step in terms of a degree or career. For some students, returning to the Sixth Form will involve a combination of studying AS or BTEC subjects, together with improving or increasing their GCSE qualifications. But whatever your combination of subjects, your years in the Sixth Form will give you the opportunity to develop skills which will be crucial for your next step after the Sixth Form.As a student studying the Welsh Baccalaureate as part of your course, this will count, not only as an additional A Level subject, but will also provide you with a framework and a qualification which recognises all the skills and experiences you will develop during your time in the Sixth Form. Your ability to compete in the jobs market and in the Higher Education sector will be notably greater having gained the Baccalaureate qualification. This is a fact and not merely an attempt to market the Bacc!Carys MorganPennaeth

Numerous extra-curricular clubs in Ysgol Bro Pedr to provide unique leadership opportunities for the 6th form. As members of the sixth form, you will be able to join some of these clubs as mentors or leaders, where you will be able to develop your leadership skills, create sessions and pass on your skills. Being a club leader or mentor can be used towards parts of your Welsh Baccalaureate and it will also look very good on your CV and University applications.
