Welcome to Morriston Comprehensive Sixth Form

It is with great pleasure that I introduce our Sixth Form Prospectus. I hope it offers a clear insight into the exciting developments taking place at Morriston Comprehensive School.

We are an ambitious and forward-thinking school, dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential. We believe that continuing into Morriston Sixth Form is the best choice for the majority of our pupils. Our Sixth Form offers a wide range of high-quality subject options, delivered by experienced staff who know our pupils well, maintain high expectations, and provide consistent, supportive teaching.

We understand the importance of nurturing and supporting our pupils throughout their post-16 journey. Our strong pastoral system, now enhanced by a dedicated Sixth Form Academic Tutor, Mr. Thomas-James, working alongside Mr. Evans, our Director of Sixth Form, ensures that every student receives the guidance they need to succeed.

The transition from GCSE to post-16 study is a significant step, and we are committed to ensuring that pupils choose courses that align with their aspirations — whether that be university, apprenticeships, or employment. Our tailored support and guidance set us apart, and our inclusive admissions policy is matched by excellent outcomes. These results place Morriston among the top-performing schools in Swansea, with many of our pupils progressing to leading universities across the UK.

We are proud to welcome an increasing number of pupils from neighbouring 11–16 schools. Our inclusive and welcoming ethos ensures that all pupils quickly feel part of our vibrant Sixth Form community.

We warmly invite prospective pupils and their families to visit us and experience first-hand what Morriston has to offer. At the start of Year 12, pupils are set ambitious targets based on their GCSE performance. Progress is closely monitored throughout the two years, with regular reports shared with pupils and parents. Our Sixth Form mentoring programme provides additional support to help pupils stay on track and achieve their goals.

Recognising the maturity of our Sixth Formers, we offer dedicated study areas, a common room, and privileges that reflect the independence of post-16 education.

While academic excellence is at the heart of our Sixth Form, we also celebrate the wider achievements of our pupils. From sports and performing arts to community service, we encourage pupils to develop the skills and values that universities and employers seek.
