Welcome Message
Welcome to the Steiner Academy Hereford
The UK’s first Academy offering Steiner education
Our vision is to enable children to have a full experience of childhood that can nourish and develop their innate gifts and potentials so that they may become responsible, fearless and free individuals who think clearly, observe perceptively and act constructively for the good of the world.
Set in the beautiful south Herefordshire countryside, the school provides a creative and peaceful learning environment where we aim to nourish and develop the innate gifts and potential of all the children in our care.
We provide a co-educational school for children from early childhood right through to school leaving age (3 to 16). Pupils learn traditional subjects through the distinctive and time-tested Steiner approach that serves the children’s intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual development in ways that are suited to their age. This principle is based on the simple but profound insight that children learn in different ways at different stages of their development. Read about our curriculum and more about Steiner education.
By the time they leave school at 16 our young people are well equipped to move on to their chosen path. Read about our academic achievements including GCSE results.

University
Sam went on to study at Wells Cathedral School and the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London. This is testament to the hard work he put in here at the Steiner Academy. Sam came along to our Alumni Celebration in 2023 and delighted the whole school with a Cello solo, a piece by Piatti, at our end of term assembly.

After finishing my A Levels at Hereford Sixth Form, I studied Archaeology at UCL, where I founded the Skateboarding Club and was elected President of the Dodgeball Club, thanks to all my training at Waldorf. I completed my fieldwork in Peru and Cyprus which gave me the wanderlust. So after graduating I travelled through Asia and then returned to the UK to work as the Class 1 Teaching assistant at the Greenwich Steiner School in London. From there I got onto the TeachFirst Leadership Development Program and completed my teacher training and PGCE as a secondary Geography Teacher at an academy in Wembley, in what can best be described as a baptism of fire. After completing the two year program I made my way to New Zealand via Asia again. After doing a year of PE cover teaching at a local boys high school, my gap year turned into a something more when I met my wife and I got a job as a Class Teacher at Tauranga Waldorf School, where I am currently teaching Class 7. Following being “stuck” in New Zealand for three years, once Covid restrictions were lifted, I returned to Herefordshire in 2022 to introduce me fiancé to my family and take a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Through a combination of nepotism and relevant experience, I got a job cover teaching at my alma mata until the end of the school year. I organized my 13 year school reunion (was meant to be 10, but Covid…) with my old class mates that summer and got to hold the celebration at school. It was wonderful to return to the place that holds such a special place in my heart, was the source of so much joy, enabled me to find my firmest friends and inspired my love of history and geography that led to degree and ultimately to my chosen career path. My wife and I returned to New Zealand in April 2023 after getting married in South Africa (where she was born). We have recently brought home our first baby in the form of an eight week old Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Basil Scarthwaite Rifleman Robertson II. I never did become a professional skateboarder but I have started and been running a skateboard coaching charity which runs free skateboarding classes for kids for the last four years and was featured on national news and the paper a couple of times.
