Welcome Message

Welcome to Waingels Sixth Form

"Waingels enabled me to achieve excellent grades, whilst also developing and growing as an individual. Without a doubt, my time in Waingels Sixth Form has been the best two years of my education- Alumni Student"

Welcome to Waingels Sixth Form; a vibrant Sixth Form that welcomes students from our own Year 11 cohort and the wider community alike. We are very proud of what we have to offer.

For 2025 enrolment information please visit our admissions webpage here

By joining Waingels Sixth Form you are becoming part of something special. The Sixth Form community is built on the same values as the rest of the school; Pride, Respect, Kindness and Responsibility, however the students that join us each year recognise that the Sixth Form feels distinctly different in that they have more independence, freedom and special privileges.

Making the leap from Year 11 to Year 12 will be challenging. You will be well supported by our dedicated staff and our transition process that runs from November of Year 11 to October of Year 12. Students in our Sixth Form will experience exceptional teaching and learning, where they are fully engaged and challenged in their lessons, and where teachers support students in making excellent progress.

Our motto Preparing Students for Bright Futures is lived out in the work that we do to provide you with opportunities and support in making your post Sixth Form careers decisions. We provide a tailored ‘Next Steps’ careers programme, underpinned by our online platform UNIFROG. Our Careers Adviser and experienced tutors will help you to devise a personalised career plan that is right for you. We are very proud that the majority of our students go on to university or high-quality apprenticeships.

We very much look forward to welcoming you into our community and being a part of the next chapter of your educational journey.

Inspiring Teachers: All of my Sixth Form teachers were great and very supportive throughout the long and competitive medicine application process. Notably Miss Fellowes-Freeman who took the time to help me prepare for the medical admissions tests. Since Leaving Waingels: I've been studying medicine at St Andrews University. It mainly comprises of clinical skills like taking blood pressure, dissecting cadavers and learning how to communicate like a doctor. Waingels Memory: The last day of school was a memorable one, despite being unexpectedly early, it was fun to spend time with friends and teachers.

Waingels Memory: The ski trip was definitely the best trip I've ever been on, I loved every second of it. Inspiring Teachers: Ms Rowley was really helpful with my decision making, I also spoke to the Careers Adviser who pointed me in the right direction. Since Leaving Waingels: I am studying for a Bachelors Degree with Honours in Paramedic Science at the University of Northampton. Future Goals: To spend most of my life on the road as a Paramedic in the Ambulance Service.

Type of Waingels Student: Hard working. I always wanted to do well, even now I hate disappointing people and am a rule follower. I wasn't overly popular but I was friendly to everyone in my year (possibly because I was always willing to help people in lessons?) Since Leaving Waingels: I'm studying History (BA) at the University of Sussex. Final Message to Waingels Students: "Don't ever let anyone belittle your feelings when you're struggling, school can be tough. Your school and sixth form years help to define who you are as a person. You'll change so much over your time at Waingels, you go in as a child and come out an adult. There will undoubtably be tears and fallings out but hold your friends close, you might be like me and find a group of people that will stay with you for life. Enjoy these years, make them years that you will be proud to look back on."
