Course summary
This course will offer an array of opportunities to students that cross over into a variety of other subject areas such as psychology, sociology and biology. A level P.E. leads students on a journey through a variety of topics from a sporting perspective such as that of an athlete, coach, spectator or a member of the media. Learners will develop transferable skills that are in demand by higher education institutes and employers in all sectors. Theory Content (70%) This part of the course is delivered through six distinct topic areas; • Applied Anatomy & Physiology • Exercise Physiology • Biomechanical Movement • Skill Acquisition • Sports Psychology • Sport & Society and the Role of Technology This element of the course will be assessed through two exam papers which will be sat at the end of year 13. Non-Examined Assessment (30%) Students are provided with an opportunity to utilise their expertise in a sporting environment. Students are assessed as a performer or coach in the full-sided version of one activity. Through coursework students analyse and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses in competitive sport.
