Course summary
Biology is everywhere... It is the study of living organisms, life on Earth, why it exists, how it exists and how it all works from the smallest molecule to the largest organisms known to exist. You’ll study a wide range of biological fields including some things you’ve already come across like the heart and lungs, but also how your brain works and how you even have thoughts. Biology is everything from anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, ecology, evolution all the way to genetics. WHAT WILL I STUDY? The specification is divided into topics, each covering different key concepts of biology, including: foundations in biology; exchange and transport; biodiversity; evolution and disease; communication; homeostasis; energy and genetics evolution and ecosystems. Teaching of practical skills is integrated with the theoretical topics and they are assessed through written papers. The Practical Endorsement will also support the development of practical skills.
