Course summary
This popular vocational qualification prepares students to go on to study a wide variety of academic and vocational courses in Higher Education, and/or go into a wide variety of careers in which good communication skills are essential, including nursing, education, social work and a variety of opportunities within health care providers such as the NHS. It develops knowledge and skills in the vocational context of the caring industries. In year 1 students study a unit in Human Lifespan Development, which is assessed by an examination and Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs assessed internally. In year 2 a further two units, Working in Health and Social Care (exam) and Sociological Perspectives in Health and Social Care (internally assessed) complete the programme of study.
