Business Studies:Single
Course summary
Are you the next budding Alan Sugar, Karen Brady or even Claude Littner?!!! If your answer is yes, studying business is right up your street! If your answer is no, then studying business could still be perfect for you! Knowledge of business and business processes can be useful in many different jobs including roles within the administrative and clerical job family, accountancy, banking and finance, retail sales and customer services. It will also be useful if you are thinking about setting up your own business or being self-employed in the future. Another advantage of studying business is the breadth of disciplines available: economics, strategy, finance, law, e-commerce, human resources, accounting and the list goes on. Most students start their A Levels with little to no idea what career they want. Studying business leads into many career paths suited to a range of people. You will study the main functional areas of a business including, marketing, finance, human resources and operations. You will use the theory learnt to apply to different case studies such as Mondelez, Sony, Easy Jet, BMW, Rolls Royce, Superdry and Marks and Spencer. Essay writing will involve you having to give detailed recommendations to businesses on various strategic decisions. You will need to apply your theory, and use statistical data to support your recommendations. In year 13 you will also focus on global marketing which allows students to study larger international firms and the opportunities that arise because of increased globalisation.
