Assessment

Much of your study will involve research, either in books or on the internet. There will also be practical work and some visits involved. You will be expected to keep and organise notes based on your classwork and keep evidence of your independent research. All students will be expected to organise a placement in a health and social care setting during Year 12 which will give them the opportunity to experience the vocational elements of the programme, and develop practical skills. BTEC is assessed through a mix of coursework assignments and externally examined units. On each unit a pass, merit or distinction grade will be awarded. Unit points will then be accumulated to give an overall qualification mark. Each unit has to be completed within a set deadline. Teacher feedback is given at regular intervals throughout the taught elements of this unit.
