Do you have a passion for all things Theatre? Whether you are an experienced actor or an aspiring star, A level Theatre Studies will play a role in any career you wish to pursue! Learn to appreciate the fine art of drama in a relaxed, carefree learning environment in which you can take on roles that force you to step out of your comfort zone. We delve deep into the radical yet revolutionary works of key practitioners & companies such as Brecht, Berkoff, Artaud and Frantic Assembly, even partaking in live theatre trips and workshops chosen by you! Become your own teacher as you devise, perform and reflect in a department full of enthusiastic, driven and devoted staff and students. What’s stopping you? Component 1: ● A group performance realisation of a key extract. ● Use one key extract from a performance text and a theatre practitioner as stimuli. Practitioners studied Artaud, Brecht and Physical Theatre ● Complete a creative log analysing and evaluating process ● Internally assessed and externally moderated Component 2: ● Devise an original performance piece using the techniques and working methods of an influential theatre practitioner. ● Perform one key extract from a different performance text. ● Externally assessed by a visiting examiner. ● Learners produce a written report within one week of completion of the practical work. Component 3 ● Written examination: 2 hours 30 minutes ● Practical exploration and study of two set texts focusing on how they can be realised for performance. ● Practical exploration and interpretation of Curious Incident focusing on how this text could be reimagined for a contemporary audience.
