A-level mathematics is a prestigious and well-respected course that shows strong technical ability, independent learning skills, and creative problem-solving to prospective universities or employers. A Level Maths is also a stimulating and challenging course. Students will develop key employability skills such as problem-solving, logical reasoning, communication, and resilience. The course itself will increase knowledge and your understanding of mathematical techniques, which will, in turn, support the study of other A Level subjects. What will I study? This is a linear course, therefore there are no single units. The structure of the course is a mix of pure mathematics and applications of mathematics. The pure maths units cover topics such as algebra, graphs, calculus, and trigonometry. The applied units will include mechanics and statistics. What could I do next? A qualification in A Level maths will open up a number of potential opportunities to you within medicine, engineering, finance, architecture and computer science to name a few. The numerical and problem-solving aspects of the course lend themselves to a variety of disciplines and you will learn a lot of transferrable skills regardless of your future career plans.
