Course summary
The Extended Project Qualification allows you to learn and develop skills that you will apply to your independent research project. The Extended Project gives you the freedom to research a topic or aspect of the world around you that you have a genuine curiosity about. You will develop and improve your learning and performance as a critical, reflective, and independent student. The Extended Project Qualification offers the opportunity for you to: • Extend your planning, research, critical thinking, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and presentation skills • Develop and apply skills creatively, demonstrating initiative and enterprise • Use your learning experiences to support your aspirations for higher education and/or career development • Transfer skills developed as part of your extended project to other areas of study. Throughout your EPQ journey, you will be supervised. Your Supervisor will help you frame your research and will judge the quality of your project. They will meet with you regularly to track your progress and will act as critical support. You are expected to spend 90 hours working on your Extended Project independently. There will also be 30 directed teaching hours to support the successful completion of the Extended Project.
