Applied Sciences

Course summary

Students studying Applied Science have an opportunity to learn independently, carry out active research and develop communication skills by delivering presentations and being active group members. Learners can also benefit from opportunities by selecting areas of interest for detailed study. By the end of the course students will be confident in reading scientific and technical texts, writing effectively, showing analytical skills and will be confident and proficient in a variety of practical scenarios – all skills which can be brought forward for use at university or in the workplace. There are four mandatory units: • Unit 1: Principles and Applications of Science • Unit 2: Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques • Unit 3: Science Investigation Skills • Unit 8: Physiology of Human Body Systems
