Assessment

60% coursework/personal portfolio and 40% Externally Set Assignment (practical exam). The course comprises four units, two in Year 12 which consist of a foundation practical project and then a more independent thematic project, which will include a controlled assessment. The first unit in year 13 is the coursework element, this is based on expressive portraits and includes practical drawing and painting and an extended essay linked to your work. The final unit is the Externally Set Assignment, which consists of ten weeks preparation on a theme set by the exam board and 15 hours on the final piece.
