Psychology will interest students who have a curiosity about how human beings behave and interact with one another and the influences which make each person unique. It is the scientific study of the human mind and human behaviour and its aim is to understand and predict behaviour to improve the quality of life for everyone. Studying Psychology will develop a range of academic skills including communication, problem solving, literacy, numeracy, organisation and research skills.
-Five grade 5s and above including grade 5 in English and grade 5,5 in Science.
The examinations consist of a combination of multiple choice, short answer questions, questions with scenarios requiring students to apply their knowledge of the topic and extended writing (essay-style) questions. The A level course is examined in its entirety at the end of the second year of study (if students sit the AS examination and continue to sit the A level examination, their marks for the AS do not count and the A level is a terminally examined course). In addition to the examinations, student progress is assessed regularly throughout the course.
