Art and Design

Course summary

During the course of the two years, students will either complete 4 or 8 units. These units are primarily practical skills based and students will be set a variety of Design Briefs to respond to. The briefs will be open to interpretation to allow students to work creatively and introduce their own interests and ideas. Students will have the opportunity to explore and develop their practical skills in specialisms such as Photography, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration and Textiles. Any student who enjoys working in a creative and practical way could consider the course. Whilst it is beneficial for students to have studied Art and Design in KS4, any student who has a flair for, or an interest in, one or more art specialisms would be suited. Students need to be self-motivated and independent in their approach to their projects and their own research.
