Course summary
A level Literature is a course for students who love reading and wish to develop their intellectual appreciation of the written word. Students study under four component headings: Poetry, Drama, Unseen Texts, and Prose. In Poetry, students will study Duffy's Mean Time, comparing it with Larkin's Whitsun Weddings. John Donne's poetry provides students with the exciting challenge of understanding metaphysical poetry. In Drama, Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire. In Unseen Texts, students are taught to strengthen their ability to analyse texts independently, as they explore previously unseen extracts of both prose and poetry.
