The A level involves 3 components Two exams, based on: Literary Genres: Aspects of tragedy Shakespeare and drama – Texts studied are: - Shakespeare ‘Richard II’ - Shakespeare ‘Othello’ Prose – Texts studied are: - F Scott Fitzgerald ‘The Great Gatsby’ Texts and Genres: - Elements of crime or elements of political and social protest writing: - Margaret Atwood ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Text & Genres: - Elements of crime or elements of political and social protest writing. - William Blake ‘Songs of Innocence and Experience’. - Khaled Hosseini ‘The Kite Runner’. - Study of sample extracts, taken from the political and social genre. - Revision of texts.
