1K The Making of a Superpower: USA 1865-1975 You will explore how America came to be the superpower that it is today by looking at how America unified after its catastrophic Civil War, the impact of slavery, the social and cultural developments of America and weigh up its foreign policy decisions such as the Vietnam War. You will be exploring the development of modern American society and how the decisions of politicians have shaped the lives of millions. (Year 12: 1865-1920 and Year 13: 1920-1975) 2S The Making of Modern Britain, 1951-2007 You will explore the changing face of modern Britain from a country without an NHS and nearly bankrupted by war, to the affluent society of the 1960s. You will examine a range of issues, for example the rise of the teenager, the impact of the Falklands War, Thatcher’s new economic policies and the “war of on terror”. You will explore the impact of the media, immigration and music has had on British society during this time. (Year 12: 1951-1979 and Year 13: 1979-2007) Historical Investigation (Coursework) 20% A Level This is your chance to craft a convincing argument about the gruesome rebellions in Tudor England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Through this you will explore Tudor society, religion, law and order and threats from abroad. You will carry out your own research to produce a 4000-4500 word essay.
