Course summary
The Physics Department follows the AQA syllabus. All universities accept this course as an entrance qualification. Practical physics will be assessed internally by centers leading to a Pass/Fail of the Practical Endorsement but knowledge gained from practical work will be assessed in the written terminal examinations. The A level is a two-year course. Year 1 contains five sections. These are: 1. Particles and radiation 2. Waves and optics 3. Mechanics and materials 4. Electricity 5. Measurements and their errors Year 2 has 3 core units and one unit which is an option* that is selected by the center. These are: 1. Further Mechanics and Thermal Physics 2. Fields and their consequences 3. Nuclear Physics 4. Turning Points*
