- Breadth Study: Tsarist and Communist Russia. At the end of the second year. 2 hours 30 minutes written exam, with one question on historians’ interpretations and then two essays from a choice of four. Worth 40% - Depth Study: The English Revolution. At the end of the second year. 2 hours 30 minutes exam, with one source-based question and then two essays from a choice of three. Worth 40% of A-level. - Historical Investigation (during the second year). Essay of 3000-3500 words. Marked by the teachers and moderated by AQA. 20% of A-level.
