Course summary
This qualification builds on the students’ experience from Key Stage 4 and GCSE to enhance their knowledge and increase their understanding of the factors that affect performance and participation in Physical Education. It looks to equip students with the skills and knowledge required for higher education or the world of work. The specification offers students the opportunity to excel in a sport of their choice over the two years, either as a performer or a coach. Students are then assessed in the second year of their sport. The content of the course addresses: applied anatomy and physiology, skill acquisition, sport and society, exercise physiology, biomechanical movement, sport psychology, sport and society and the role of technology in physical activity and sport.
