Course summary
This course helps learners develop knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to physical education. Students can then gain an understanding of the scientific and socio-cultural factors that underpin physical activity. This course then demonstrates their ability as a performer or a coach. Topics Physiological Factors affecting performance – Applied anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology and Biomechanics. Psychological Factors affecting performance – Skill acquisition and sports psychology. Socio-cultural issues in physical activity and Sport – Sport and Society and Contemporary issues in sport. Following this there is then a coursework element to the programme in which your practical performance is assessed against a set criterion. Videos are submitted to support this and a live demonstration of skills is completed.
