Course summary
This qualification provides a coherent introduction to the study of art and design. Students develop art and design projects and gain an understanding of the creative process. Students will study visual recording and communication, critical analysis and production skills to produce art and design outcomes. This course has an equivalent size to one A-level. You will study four units of work, two of which are externally assessed. The coursework units are worth 42% of the course certificate, and the external units are worth 48% of the course certificate. Art & Design can lead to a variety of different creative job roles. This could include design within any material area. Opportunities could include animation, architecture, cartoonist, ceramic designer, fashion designing, fine artist, games designer, glassmaker, graphic designer, illustrator, interior designer, jewellery designer, landscape architect, product designer, photographer, set designer, theatre and costume designer and web designer.
