Component 1 - Personal Investigation. 60% Internally set, assessed by the teacher and externally moderated. This component is worth 60% of the A Level. It requires candidates to produce a portfolio of practical and written work based on personal starting points. Component 2 - Externally Set Assignment (ESA). 40% Externally set, assessed by the teacher and externally moderated. This component is worth 40% of the A Level. It requires candidates to produce preparatory studies and personal outcomes based on a theme set by Edexcel.
