Course summary

National Extended Certificate in 2 years (Equivalent to 1 A Level) Entry Requirement: You must have at least five Grade 5 and above at GCSE including Grade 5 in English and Grade 5 in Maths. If you completed Level 2 qualification in BTEC Business then you must have completed it to a Merit Level. Is this course for me? You will enjoy this course if you would like to: • develop an understanding of how business works in the real world • discover the problems and opportunities faced by local, national and international businesses • have an opportunity to organise an enterprise activity • learn about how business functions such as marketing, finance, human and physical resources work together as part of a whole business • take part in practical activities such as planning and running a business, organising an event or planning and setting up a website What will I learn? The BTEC qualifications in this specification have been developed in the business sector to: • Provide education and training for employees in the business sector • Provide business employees opportunities to achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 vocationally-specific qualification • Provide full-time learners the opportunity to enter employment in the business sector or to progress to vocational qualifications such as the Edexcel BTEC Higher Nationals in Business • Provide learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. What could this course lead to? This course qualifies for UCAS points so if you complete it successfully you could move on to study for a degree or BTEC Higher National Diploma. You could also go on to a Modern Apprenticeship in related subjects such as Administration or Management or on to relevant employment.
