Core component: • paper A written examination • paper B written examination • employer set project In order to achieve a grade for core component, students must have results for both sub-components (the core (written) examination and the employer set project). The combined results from these sub-components will be aggregated to form the overall core component grade (A*–E and U). If students fail to reach the minimum standard across all sub-components, they will receive a U grade. No overall grade will be issued for the core component until both sub-components have been attempted. Occupational specialism component: • synoptic assignments The student is also required to successfully achieve a distinction/merit/pass grade in one of the occupational specialism components. If the student fails to reach the specified level of attainment, they will receive a U grade. Includes 9 weeks minimum working with an employer on an industry placement (21 weeks if you take the Early Years Educator specialism) Learners will develop practical and technical skills as part of an industry placement with an employer. Once all elements are covered, in module 5 you will complete an employer set project. We will begin the term by completing a mock ESP assessment, to ensure you have a good understand of the expectations. This assessment is put in place to give you the opportunity to apply core knowledge and skills to develop a substantial piece of work Core skill 1 Communicate information clearly to engage children and young people, for example to stimulate discussion and to secure understanding Core skill 2 Work with others to plan and provide activities to meet children and young people's needs. Core skill 3 Use formative and summative assessment to track children and students progress to plan and shape educational opportunities Core skill 4 How to assess and manage risks to your own and others safety when planning activities. Coursework expectations 4 pages of notes can be produced to use whilst completing the coursework Task 1A - Early years support plan Task 1B - Activity Plan Task 2A - Group discussion Task 2B - Reflection of the group discussion and all areas of the activity plan Task 3A - Presentation with script Task 3B - Teacher notes from presentation Task 4 - Pre-release to be read.
